Squatter Settlements Photos

Squatter Settlements photos:

This picture was taken while I was going to school. Perhaps slums would be a better word to describe this picture. This is a small slum but as we can see, there are stuff hanging around and there were trashes on the river, just like the "Slums Video" that Mr. Blake showed us.

Another picture from my way to school. This is a bigger slum with both squatter settlements on both side. Here is one side of the slums, and I can see the woman going outside to bring her clothes inside the house. This is very old and very dirty place to live, but still, poor people have no choice but to live in this place.

Here is another squatter settlement, surrounded by dirty lake water. I can see that it is very hard to get in and out of this place because if we accidentally trip, we might end up in the dirty lake with nasty living creatures. This settlement looks like it is about to fall apart, and it seems very tiny and uncomfortable.

Migration and Immigration Photos

My pictures of area in HCMC that has been affected by migration or immigration...

This was taken near my house. People no longer need this place and had been moving to another place, and now it's under construction, trying to develop the old abandoned place.

The area near the river and the bridge. This place could be where the old homes had built but then people migrated.

This area was taken near Saigon Pearl. There were two yards and I took the picture of one side of it. It seems to be very isolated and still have the old house.
